A Basic Kit

Posted by Kelly Shibari On September - 28 - 2008

Toolbox 300x199 A Basic KitWhat should you be taking with you to a set so that you appear professional, prepared, and ready to not be taken advantage of?

It depends on the shoot, but primarily a “kit” will consist of:

WARDROBE

  • Several options on stockings – fishnets, pantyhose, thigh-highs, preferably black or some color. Nothing nude.
  • Lingerie – corsets, bra and panty sets, babydolls…you know what looks good on you.
  • Costumes – if the scene requires it.
  • Street clothes – usually try to get something one size smaller than your real size so that curves are accentuated.

Color is preferable over black or white. Black absorbs light, white bounces it back. Most photographers prefer something bright to shoot.

SHOES

  • Stilettos
  • Stripper heels

Pleaser (www.pleaserusa.com) makes some really great quality shoes. You should be able to use the same shoes with multiple outfits so choose wisely – you’ll also be in them for a while so make sure you try them on and try walking in them as well. Seriously.

PROPS

  • Dildos
  • Vibrators

I’d recommend one natural looking dildo as well as one colorful vibe and a colorful dildo. Most shoots will include some toy play, and bringing your own is always a good, sanitary idea. You will want to change up what toys you bring from time to time, and if the scene called for fetish gear, make sure you have a conversation about who is bringing what to the set.

SUNDRY ITEMS

  • Wet wipes
  • Lube
  • Towel
  • Water or soda
  • Anything else you might need – douche, cigarettes, etc.

I mention these only because you shouldn’t rely on the shooting location to have these ready for you. It’s nice if they did, but if they didn’t, you’ll be happy you brought these. Also, don’t expect all filming locations to have a working shower, so having wet wipes and/or a towel is a good idea.

You’ll be able to find both outfits as well as shoes in sex shops that handle adult clothes. You can also try online companies such as Sex Toy Warehouse or My Erotic Lingerie, that handle outfits and toys. If you establish a ongoing relationship with your local adult store, more than likely they will also consider a discount, so keep that in mind as well.
