I’m at a video shoot today, so I have asked my friend Bi-Servant Girl to be today’s Guest Blogger/Commentator. She has a little more history and first-hand experience with affiliate sites for the adult market as a solo site girl, so having her input is much appreciated:
Marketing is so important in any field that you are in. I have to market myself, my sites, my blog, and my Clips4Sales site, but I do take the time to market as an affiliate too.
I went about mine in a different way. I went to the site that my friends own, and are the web masters for (Plump Dolls). I have also met three of the other models that have sites with them. I fell in love with all of them. When I find something that I believe in – a product, a company, a food, whatever, I have a a habit of selling the heck out of it. Standing behind what I believe in!!
Then I picked BBWPornPass, because: 1) I know Princess Lissa, 2) I talk to Kelly a lot on Twitter, 3) I have spoken to Ditto (Co-Owner/Webmistress for BBWPornPass) in the past thru emails, 4) I like Sebastian Sands’ (Owner/Webmaster of BBWPornPass) work, and 4) they are a local business (based in Las Vegas). I like to promote my local industry. Besides, Kelly and Ginger offer something that I don’t, (namely) hardcore, boy/girl, and BJ scenes, which are not something you will see with me anytime soon. (Lissa, Ginger, and I are all solo girls featured on the BBWPornPass website.)
The third affiliate that I have is my own little kink, and the reason I have my screen name, Bondage.com. So I giving back to the group that has opened doors for me.
I have two others that I have added from Fat-Forums (a free message board site for BBW talent and fans) – two models that I liked chatting to, and the other one where I like her content, and could market nicely with my site, since she had different fetishes to offer.
Now unfortunately for me as a model, I can’t do cross affiliate programs with people. My company doesn’t offer one. So out of fairness I don’t ask others to post my banners (at this time my website does not allow affiliate programs either). But ideally, like Kelly said, if you are on someone else’s site promoting them, you should find a way to have it come back to promote you as well.
Now for the real question: I have had hits from my blog to the girls’ sites, and a few from another site that I have registered to the girls’ sites. I do not know what my website has generated for hits. But I haven’t made any money with the affiliate program. But I didn’t start this to get rich. I started to make what I could, IF I could, (in this market), as well as to promote the BBW community as a whole.
Please Note: Just remember for every website that you want to put links and banners on, you need to give them a new URL address. I had to register Kelly’s company four times with four different URL’s to get my numbers. Each website URL gets a different affiliate number. If you don’t, those clicks will not count for you.
Thank you for your time, Kelly.
