“Free” Auditions Pt2

CastingCouch Free Auditions Pt2

If you’ve gone through the initial email/IM/phone exchange and you’ve established when and where you are meeting (and you’ve determined whether or not this is a shoot or an audition), you still should not be letting your guard down. Some of the guys who troll Craigslist are really good at this. They’re smooth talkers and know exactly what to say to get what they want – which namely is free sex from some girl that might be good enough to be a porn star.

Here’s a run-down on what auditions SHOULDN’T be:

1) It shouldn’t be in a hotel room

2) If it IS in a hotel room, it shouldn’t be with just one guy in the room. There should be at least one other person in the room (more on this below).

3) There SHOULDN’T be a camera in the room except MAYBE a still camera. I don’t care if the guy says something about how there is no tape in the video camera – there are still ways to record on a camera that doesn’t involve a tape. Don’t be fooled by this tactic.

4) You SHOULDN’T be asked to perform any acts. You really should be able to get in and out in about 15 minutes tops – just long enough to say hello, have them take some snapshots, and maybe a little chitchat about your experience in the industry and what type of project he’s working on. An exchange of contact information and you should be out of there.

Here’s what an audition SHOULD be:

1) You enter the room without any of your Kit items

2) You meet one or two people who have no recording equipment, other than MAYBE a still camera.

3) You are asked to undress, show maybe a couple of poses, and are told that you can put your clothes back on.

4) They chitchat with you a little (after all, they are in business, so why would they have the time to chat you up for a long time?)

5) They exchange their contact info with yours, and let you know that they’ll contact you if they’re interested, or they book you for a specific shoot date and time on the spot (which rarely happens, but does)

That really should be it. Anything more and it seriously should send up giant red flags.

Oh – and I’m sure I’ve missed some telltale signs. Any ladies following this blog that wants to put in their two cents, please please please comment below. It’s really appreciated!

Note: About Item #2 in the first list above – it’s REALLY REALLY difficult for a halfway decent scene to be shot unless it’s a POV scene. My personal experience (yup, I’ve made the mistakes. That’s why I’m writing this blog! LOL) is that usually if it’s just one guy in a hotel room, he’s looking for a legal alternative to hiring a call girl/escort. Someone, somewhere, told him that it was legal to get a girl to come and have sex with him if he taped the sex. Don’t fall for this – it’s still illegal because he’s shooting a film without a filming permit.

I’ll address this again and in more detail in “The Fake Film Shoot”.
