A common misconception about Tube sites are that they are like Torrent sites – that is, that they are a gateway for stolen adult content and piracy. In actuality, it’s a great way to advertise content that you have on your site for free, as often as you’d like, to drive traffic to your sites.
Since this blog is geared more towards the adult entertainment crowd, some of the verbage I use will cater towards them, but if you are a non-XXX online media mogul-to-be, some of the same basic premises apply. The websites you would post your content/clips/video would be different, as well, unless a non-adult product that you’re selling actually
works for the adult market…what, I have no idea.
A simple one-step method of using Tube sites to generate traffic for your site would be to just take 2-minute clips from several of your already-shot scenes. They’re already on your site, so you don’t need to shoot anything new. Take the content and rework it – edit it down to a few minutes and there’s your clip. If you have the clearance to use specific music that you can add to your clip, all the better – most guys may not have the volume turned up, but it’s always good to have as an option. Remember, don’t steal music to put on your clips – you wouldn’t want people to steal your content, so apply The Golden Rule here.
One step above the “quick clip-chop” method would be to do specialized clips just for Tube sites. Much like television and radio commercials, you can shoot a 30-second, 1-minute, or 2-minute video ad of what you have to offer. If you’re a solo girl, it can be a “day in the life of…” segment, or an interview. If you’re a content owner, you too can do interviews as well as montages of several clips. There’s one webmaster out there who does Tube ads of himself talking about how much he loves the content that he sees on his site. It’s a little over-the-top, a little BillyMays-ish (if you’re following me on Twitter you know what I mean about “BillyMays-ish”, but the point gets across really well.
There are probably around 100 or so (probably more) adult-oriented Tube sites out there, and a lot more non-adult, public Tube sites. I personally know of 40 or so adult ones that are used regularly. Uploading videos can take some time, depending on the length of your clips, but if you decide to put a new clip on 5 Tube sites a day, out of content that you already have, it’s a simple task, especially if you’re already online talking on any message boards or social networking sites.
In addition to the adult-content Tube sites out there, you can also upload videos to non-adult content sites like YouTube or MetaCafe. Be careful, though – make sure that you READ the Terms and Conditions before you upload anything – you would hate to have your XXX content out there for some unsuspecting minor to see. In addition, public sites like YouTube have strict guidelines as to the type of content allowed, so PLEASE stick to them.
Regardless of what method you decide to implement (or if you want to try them all to see what works for your niche/audience), make sure that you:
- Have the content watermarked for your protection.
- Have a link to your site written out in the clip so people know where to go.
- You can kill 2 birds with one stone if your watermark IS your website address.
Adult Tube sites also have 2257 Compliance Statement requirements – some will ask you to submit a video acknowledgement of compliance (a webcam clip of you holding your ID and stating that you’re not a minor), some will ask for you to electronically sign a Compliance Statement. Most if not all will ask you to mail them a hard copy for their files – especially after the new 2257 Regulations go into effect in March.
What you’re trying to create here is something viral – not just something that blends in with the myriad of other adult clips out there. Pick a great clip – or make something special just for viewers, to entice them to your site. Much like what you might do in message boards, creating a bond with a potential Tube site visitor means a higher likelihood that they’ll visit your site – and although most who go to Tube sites may not have their credit card out initially, they may be enticed to purchase a one-month membership if you have peaked their interest.
From there, it’s up to you to keep them there
There are other methods out there to work and rework your Tube content to bring people to your site – and the best part is that these methods are all FREE!
*Note* Just what IS that picture for today’s post, you ask? Why, it’s a right-hand keyboard of course! So you can type with JUST ONE HAND! If you have to ask why you might ever need a single-hand keyboard…you just might not be old enough to be reading this blog
