Most people are getting their entertainment and their news on the internet these days. Not TV, not radio. Well, that’s not entirely true – but you can now watch your TV on your computer with help from hardware/software combos like Slingbox and Hava (my current preference is Hava, since I think that they actually put out a better product for less money), and most TV and radio have internet counterparts. It really negates the need for a traditional TV or radio any more.
That’s exactly why it is important now, more than ever, to make sure that your product, whatever it is, is marketed and sold on the internet. Including adult. Including your homemade videos. The internet will HELP you sell your product to as many people as possible, in as many countries as possible.
Want proof that international internet use is on the rise? Joe D, of WebBilling.com, blogged about it a few months ago in XBiz magazine (you’ll notice that I refer to them a lot, since I consider them the premier source for online adult entertainement information as far as marketing and advertising is concerned).
From his Aug 12, 2008 blog titled “Active Home Internet Users by Country”:
“As we follow markets, and budget resources for translation, marketing, content, stats and analytics, traffic and billing decisions and pricing, it’s important to consume and digest whatever data is available – and remember as always, while reviewing any data regardless of the source, it’s important not to take a measure at its face value but keep in mind exactly how it works, exactly what it’s measuring, what its limitations may be, and how it applies to your specific situation, requirements, planning and goals.
In a recent survey by Nielsen Online the total number of active Internet home users increased overall but 2 of the 10 countries tracked.”
Below is a permalink to the rest of the blog, which includes a spreadsheet of how much internet use has increased per country in the past year.
Trust me – you’re never going to be “too late” entering the internet game. It’s just important that you DO. It’s also important that you know exactly WHERE to place your product and how to make it highly visible to consumers. Consumers are fickle, especially when it comes to adult entertainment. Unless they are a permanent fan of yours, they are most often going to be browsing for their entertainment, and are probably more likely to make impulse buys than most other purchases out there. Make sure that you have a product that looks good, gets their attention, and entices them to make that purchase.
